I wrote an article recently about OSRCon and it started by talking about nostalgia. A person could say that that is all this event is about: a bunch of 40 year olds wanting to be 12 again. I won’t lie to you. There is a certain amount of time travel involved here for me.

But that’s not the whole picture. When an event is happening it’s hard to see what’s happening. And when you have some distance from it, then … well… the event is over, isn’t it.

From this vantage some people at OSRCon won’t just be playing old games bought on Ebay, but new ones created by small businesses today.

One of those businesses is Goblinoid ( http://www.goblinoidgames.com/ ). They are the makers of Labyrinth Lord, which if you look at the Schedule, we already have a GM for. Kindly, they’ve offered to send some material for us to raffle off after each of the four gaming sessions.

Actually, I did buy my delux Illuminati card game in a store and not on Ebay. But it certainly is more rare to find a store that carries it than say Warmachine Hordes.

(Kids today with their steeeeeeeampunk… why, when I was… YOU THERE! GET OFF THE GRASS! ** cough ** cough ** )
